What better needs to thrive

I am fascinated about high-performance and what are the things that getting to better needs.


Being better, is something I strive to achieve in the way I feel about myself, which drives my feelings of happiness and well being.


To be better, is also something I strive to achieve in the way I serve my clients and better meet their needs.


So if the search for high-performance (or what I call “Better”) is centred around the goal to operate in the top percentile of people, the best of the best; it is worth asking the question, what are the elements that better needs to thrive.


If I was to take the research and learnings I have been doing over the last four years, I believe it comes down to six elements.


You need to define what better looks like for you.


This is figuring out what you want and how you want to feel.


You need intent.


You need to make what better looks like for you, your number 1 priority and wrap the way you spend your day around that intention and priority.


You need to make changes.


Nothing changes if nothing changes. And better means putting in place the changes that will enable the outcomes you want.


Look at your Behaviours.


Does what you do, your behaviours, and where you spend your time, support the intent around what you want?


Look at your Beliefs.


Do the beliefs you hold about yourself, and what you believe is possible for your life, support your intent around what you want?


Learn Self-awareness.


Underpinning all of these is the need for self-awareness. Who am I, what am I and why am I. Why do I do the things I do and why do I believe the things I belief. What is sitting behind the way I feel and why I feel. What is sitting behind my motivations and are they serving me.


Self-awareness is a gift, along with being a skill you can learn. It will deliver you amazing insights that will help you get to better faster.
